The energy working team uses a math and science based approach to describe and examine both climate change and suggested mitigation strategies. We examine the effectiveness and practicality of different greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction strategies on a personal, business and government scale.
We also examine how vested financial and personal interests can influence the implementation of solutions. We examine the evolving language regarding climate change to point out inadvertent or intentional misrepresentations wherever we find it.
Learning and sharing science based knowledge with each other and the public is at our core.
The energy team is developing metrics to determine the town’s annual C02 emissions related to the town’s total use of gas and electricity. We have also engaged people on the CCAT email list to participate in a home survey for a numerical value of their home’s annual carbon emissions. These projects will support the work in actively seeking reductions in one of the largest carbon footprints segments.
